This is going to be one of my more straight forward articles and it may sound a little bit rough, but sometimes we need tough love in our lives to see the light.

• If a person is trying to pick you up and you know they have a girlfriend, boyfriend, wife or husband (aka significant other), it is not because you are so beautiful that they cannot help themselves. It is not because you are funnier, cuter, smarter, cooler, or any other excuse your ego wants you to believe, it is simply becausethey are not ready to commit. When you are the girlfriend, boyfriend, husband or wife and they do the same thing to you, don’t be surprised.

• Just your luck, you forgot your cell phone at home and forgot to turn off your stove. Luckily a good neighbor of yours has the key to your house and if you call them right away they can save your house from being destroyed in a fire. You quickly grab your significant other’s phone for this emergency and they quickly grab it from you and get defensive and ask you a question such as “What, don’t you trust me?” (May I remind you your house is on fire?)

• If a person tells you they are not ready to be in a relationship and that they like the single life, this should be enough of a warning for you. Your wonderful personality or amazing abs will not change the person’s mind.

• We all know that women and men are naturally attracted to each other, that is a given. If you are on a date with your significant other and all they can do the entire night is make googlie eyes at everyone else but you, there is your hint ;)

• You bring your date (husband, wife, girlfriend, boyfriend) to a family function and they hit on your sister, brother, cousin, father and 80 year old grandmother. Should I say more?

These are 5 fairly easy signs to tell if a person is a potential player (cheater). The best advice I can give you is observe the situation before you become involved in the situation. Don’t be too desperate to be in a relationship just because “everyone else is in one”. Just like when you are buying a car or your first house, just don’t jump in the first one because it is available. It is OK to take your time and find the right person for you. Taking your time will save you plenty of unnecessary heartache.
